I absolutely love photographing elopements! There is something so special about two people saying "I do" in a beautiful place.

Gennevieve and Brian chose Cape Perpetua as their location which happens to be one of my personal favorite spots on the Oregon coast! It is a very windy road going up but the views at the top are absolutely stunning.

The bride and groom traveled to the Oregon coast from Nebraska and it was Gennevieve's first time on the Oregon coast! Anyone who has been to the Oregon coast knows that it can be absolutely gorgeous weather OR it can be quite rainy and windy. If rain on your wedding day means good luck, Gennevieve and Brian most definitely will have the best luck! Not only was it raining the entire time, but the wind also made using a cute umbrella entirely impossible.

We explored some of the trails so we would have some tree covering while we took pictures. The original plan was to have the ceremony under the rock shelter with the ocean as the backdrop. However we very quickly discovered that the wind gusts were quite fierce in the shelter so Gennevieve and Brian said "I do" in the middle of the forest surrounded by trees and ferns instead. A perfect representation of the Oregon coast!

While rain on your wedding day may mean good luck, it isn't necessarily fun getting wet and cold. However, the wind and rain could not dampen the couple's spirits. Their love for each other shone brighter than the sun that refused to make an appearance. They laughed and joked about the weather the entire time and I had the best time with them!

We all had lunch together to dry off a little, and when we stepped outside afterwards, the rain had stopped and the sun was peeking through the clouds. Typical Oregon coast weather! I convinced the couple to let me join them at Thor's Well so we could get some semi-dry pictures. All in all, this was truly one of my favorite photo sessions and I will smile every time I think about it!
